There are now many – at least 400 over the years – women who have participated in La scena delle donne, a project that explores the female universe through the performing arts, conceived by the Neapolitan playwright Marina Rippa. Graduated in motor sciences, she then specialized in dance and mime and trained in the field of body movement and theatrical pedagogy, placing female identity at the center of her research. Neapolitan by birth, she decided to root her activity in the working-class neighborhoods of her city, through theater workshops made up of only women. Founder of the associations LIBERA MENTE and FL FEMMINILE PLURALE, for thirty years she has collected the voices of women from the poorest neighborhoods of Naples and taught them another way of experiencing movement, habits, female rituals and overcoming their fears through art. From the experiences of these women begins a deep work on female identity, aimed at overcoming socio-cultural coercions, at becoming aware of a historically repressed female self, at overcoming the limits imposed by families and the social context.
